Welcome to Alamo/Danville

The communities of Danville and Alamo are adjacent areas in Contra Costa County within the scenic San Ramon Valley of the Tri-Valley region. These family-oriented communities offer a classic small town feel with larger metropolitan amenities. The Town of Danville has a historic downtown area with a plethora of restaurants and shops. This is a vibrant area that can be bustling with residents and visitors alike enjoying the beautiful California climate. Alamo is semi-rural and known for its access to outdoor recreation including Las Trampas Regional Wilderness Park to the west and Mount Diablo State Park to the east. Highway 680 runs through both communities connecting them with Walnut Creek to the north and San Jose to the south. Danville and Alamo both have a mix of large single-family homes and grand estates in a wide range of architectural styles.

Lifestyle

Hap Magee Ranch Park is a 17-acre greenspace with many recreational amenities. It features a motion-activated water spray feature for kids, walking trails, picnic areas and a dog park. The Iron Horse Trail runs through Alamo and Danville on its 32-mile route through the communities of Contra Costa County. This scenic trail begins in Concord and finishes at Shadows Cliffs Recreation Area, a 266-acre park surrounding an 80-acre lake.
 
Located just northeast of Danville, Mount Diablo is one of the region’s most popular attractions and is not to be missed. The mountain rises to 3849 ft (1173 meters) above Mt Diablo State Park, offering an incredible lookout over the hills.
 
One can drive all the way to the summit, where you’ll find a visitor center and observation deck with panoramic views across the valleys below. If it’s a clear day you can even see the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance. There are lots of hiking trails, mountain biking and camping options in the park. And if you happen to be visiting in Spring, it’s also a great spot to see some beautiful wildflowers.
 
The communities come together in the Summer with a Summer Concert Series in Alamo on Friday evenings in Livorna Park. Danville also has its own concerts with Music in the Park every other Saturday in Oak Hill Park and Moonlight Movies on the Town Green. Both communities host bustling year-round farmer’s markets on the weekends.
 

Schools

Danville and Alamo are served by the San Ramon Valley Unified school district. The district has 35 school sites, including 22 elementary schools, 8 middle schools and 4 high schools. According to the district’s website, there are over 30,000 students enrolled and schools in the district have received National Blue Ribbon or State Distinguished School distinctions throughout the years.
